The World Environment Day is commemorated on 5 June each year, being the vehicle through which the United Nations stimulates awareness of the global environment, and promote the political attention and action.The slogan selected for World Environment Day 2008 is Kick the Habit! Towards a Low Carbon Economy. Recognizing that climate change is becoming the defining issue of our era, UNEP is asking countries, companies and communities to focus on finding ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
